Why most POTS trackers miss the picture
Most "POTS apps" track heart rate and call it a day. But heart rate alone misses roughly 70% of the variables that actually predict POTS flares.
POTS is a multi-system condition. The triggers and modulators include hydration, sodium load, sleep, menstrual phase, weather (especially heat and barometric pressure), post-exertional state, stress load, food timing, and recent medication adherence. How to use the tracker
Three practices make tracker data actually useful:
1. Daily log, even on good days. The pattern is invisible if only flare days are logged.
2. Morning orthostatic test. A 10-minute lie-then-stand heart rate check first thing - simple, free, and the most informative single data point.
3. Look at 30-day correlations, not daily data. POTS varies hour-to-hour. The signal is in the monthly trends, not in any single day.
